In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, Houston schools are in need like never before. The Huffington Post reported that hundreds of schools sustained damage from the hurricane. With the Houston Independent School District being the seventh-largest public school system in the US, the lives of hundreds of thousands of students have been impacted. Right now schools are struggling with things like providing shelter to displaced people, organizing food and clothing drives, providing crisis counselors for students and teachers, and finding ways to provide three free meals a day to every student during the next school year.
With Hurricane Irma hitting Florida so soon after Hurricane Harvey, there will be even more children and schools in need. These schools will need a lot of money in the coming weeks, months, and years to get back on their feet. It is our duty as Americans to help our fellow citizens. With that in mind, Edco and the National Speech and Debate Association are working together to raise money for NSDA affiliated schools that were affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
Donate to schools in need now to help the children and schools affected by Harvey and Irma. You can also help by spreading the word about these fundraisers through social media and email. All donations on Edco are tax-deductible and Edco will be reducing its already low fee for schools affected by Harvey and Irma.*
